Leo Manzano (left, shown edging out Maryland’s Matt Centrowitz at the Olympic Trials) has a ritual he performs before every race. It must be highly personal, because to the rest of us, it looks kind of odd.
It seems to involve licking his fingers and touching all of his joints, and then his heart, before ending with the sign of the cross. Hey, if it relaxes him enough to win, who’s complaining!
