One of the greatest things about my job is the ability to go see movies before they come out! Now, being a father, getting to share this with my family has been beyond awesome! So the other day we had been invited to the new movie “Rise of the Guardians”.
Maybe you’ve seen the trailers on TV, it features Santa Claus (Alec Baldwin), the Tooth Fairy (Isla Fisher), Sandman and Jack Frost (Chris Pine) and the Easter Bunny (Hugh Jackman)… a six-foot rabbit that has boomerangs and an Australian accent, he was awesome!!!
Long story short it’s an origin story of Jack Frost in tale that features some of the most beloved characters from our childhood like you’ve never seen them before!!!!
It’s done by DreamWorks, the people responsible for Shreck, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon…the list goes on!!! Rise of The Guardians, is the next level in the DreamWorks universe…the 3D is AMAZING. Ask anyone…usually I’m not for 3D…I feel it distracts from the movie at times and can degrade the colors and sharpness. NOT THIS TIME! Wow, from the moment the movie starts…have your glasses on! The 3D brings the magic of the movie just about full circle, bringing you into the movie. On the way home from the film, Jack (my 5 year old), says to me “Daddy…the snow flake at the end of the movie, came up ONLY to me!”…It truly felt that way!
Sometimes the movie gets a little “dark”…The Boogieman “Pitch Black” (Jude Law), rises and vows to ruin the children’s hopes of the world…sounds a MILLION times worse than it is. BUT it really creates amazing, magical, laugh out loud moments…that can at a few moments make you hold your breath! Another favorite moment with Jack…I looked over at him during the movie and he went from this chilled out sitting back position…to literally sitting on the edge of his seat in complete focus of the action!!!
Treat yourself and your family this holiday season…I think it’s one of the BEST MOVIES OF THE YEAR! It’s the 2nd movie I saw this movie that had “Rise” in the title…as much as I LOVE Batman (and that was AWESOME too)…this was BETTER!
