There are lessons to be learned from today’s non-storm/non-snow event. Maybe the biggest one is that the science(?) of weather forecasting is deliriously unforgiving. Just as I am about to get really mad at the bad predictions, I hit a soft spot. I actually felt like this forecast was NOT hyped. Two more degrees colder and we could be sitting in up to a foot of snow. I have wonderful thoughts about snow. I want it around me all the time and although I was raised ocean front with sand in my toes, when I was a child, it was snow that made my life magical. I will always wish for it. Let’s hope you have things you wish for as well.
Came across this today as well; gotta love the frankness and honesty.
Well the NWS has downgraded most warnings and replaced with advisories or nothing at all. Today is probably the worst failure of a forecast I have ever been apart off, for that I sincerely appologize. Some areas did quite well but everyone along and East of 95 essentially got zippo accumulation. There is nothing I can say to ease some of your pain I’m sure your feeling, I share this pain with you. There will be no excuses made by myself, I won’t blame my failure on anything or anyone and I won’t sugar coat this horse sh*t of a forecast. I can only offer you the option to vent your frustration and or anger in the comments.
Close your eyes. See more. Thanks for reading. Jon Boesche’
