From the fierce attitude she presents on stage to her devil-may-care persona in public, it may seem like Rihanna has the confidence of a thousand suns, but according to the singer, that’s far from the truth. It turns out, Ri-Ri still gets shy.

Rihanna mentioned how it doesn’t matter whether she’s performing or whether she’s making an appearance at an event, it all feels like a stage to her and that still makes her a little nervous. She gets butterflies right before she “goes on” and interacts with people, whether that’s singing to them or just chit chatting. “Still I get shy and awkward and (have) stage fright” she told the Associated Press as part of a Q&A for Fashion Week.
Perhaps, like Beyoncé, Rihanna knows that her fear is what helps drive her to do better, perform bigger and be the woman her fans known and love. “I wouldn’t change anything,” she said. “I have to stay the same.”
