What Has Someone Said To You That You Can Never Forget?

This just might be the sage advice or dose of cold water you needed today.

We asked about the time someone said something to you that you never forgot. Here are some of the responses:

“When someone treats you like an option, help them narrow their options by removing yourself from the equation.”

My dad told me, his daughter, when I was heading out one night, “I was a boy once. Just be careful.”

My aunt told me this afternoon a bad breakup: “A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle. It’s nice to have, but not necessary.” – Shanna

I have lived by this motto my mom told me when I was a young teenage girl. It often helped keep me from making wrong decisions in some of my relationships. My mom told me: Girls have sex to find love and boys just love to have sex.

Growing up playing baseball and softball my dad would come and watch and he would always critique every error I made but never gave me a compliment when I did something good so I asked him why and he said, “You already know you did good all I should do is help you fix your mistakes.” – Nick from Rising Sun

My grandparents who lost everything in WWII used to say “Learn all you can – nobody can take what you have in your head.”

It sounds simple and silly but when I was suffering from serious depression I read in a book “these things happen” and for some reason it changed me. I have a tattoo of it on my arm because it got me through the toughest time of my life -Ashley

A professor told me you can’t change the whole world but you can make your little corner better. Those words have kept me in human services for over 10 years without burning out. All love.

Someone asked me what they wrote on tombstones- beloved wife, husband, mother, father,son, daughter, brother, sister… Not dj, manager, accountant—so make sure we are putting the same importance to those relationships when we’re alive!

Burned myself at culinary school and my class mate suggested how to make the burn better by saying: “Get a straw and suck it up!!!”

My dad used to always tell me that in your lifetime you’ll only have enough true friends that you can count them on one hand.

The first time I had my heart broken and then the guy wanted me back a week later I asked my mom what to do because I still loved him. She said, “Forget what you feel and remember what you deserve”

My dad always said “its not lying if its none of their business.” I always remember that when someone is asking me inappropriate or personal questions.
