There’s a “Big Bang Theory” Spin-Off in the Works Called “Sheldon”

“The Big Bang Theory” is currently in its 10th season, and it’s unclear if it’ll continue beyond that.  But there’s already a spin-off in the works.

CBS is developing a prequel series about a young version of Dr. Sheldon Cooper.  That’s the character that Jim Parsons plays.

According to the “Hollywood Reporter”, it could be a little like “Malcolm in the Middle”, with a teenage version of Sheldon.  There have been several references to his childhood, growing up as a gifted kid in Texas with a religious mother.

The creators of “The Big Bang Theory” are involved, and Parsons will be a producer.  It doesn’t sound like something any of the other cast members would be involved in, but with Hollywood, you never know.

As for “The Big Bang Theory”, the cast is reportedly negotiating contract extensions, but it’s unclear if that will work out, mostly because they’re already making a ton of money.

If the new spin-off show gets off the ground, it could be a part of CBS’ fall schedule next year.
