April 7th is National Walk To Work Day.
U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy G. Thompson declared the first National Walk to Work Day as April 2, 2004 as a way to bring attention to the fact that American are getting more obese at an alarming rate.
Walking is one of the best ways to burn some calories and it’s free. With the weather starting to break, it’s time to get outside and enjoy the weather. I know there are many people who don’t like going to a gym to work out. This is an awesome way to get your cardio on. Some businesses have a workout area on site. Take advantage of it if it’s available.
If not, invite some of your co-workers to go for a walk during lunch, try parking your car a little further away from the mall or the grocery store. These may not seem like much, but these small steps can really add up.
So whip out your favorite shades, a bottle of water and take a walk!
