Just in time for The Scripps National Spelling Bee, Google has released a list of America’s most misspelled words broken down by state.
In Maryland, the most misspelled word was “special.”
“Beautiful” tripped up the most states at five (New York, California, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Ohio), while “pneumonia” was trickiest in four states (Alabama, Maine, Michigan and Washington).
The list shows the most misspelled words of 2017 based on “how to spell” online searches.
The results showed that Rhode Island has trouble with the word “liar,” the state of Wisconsin searched the most for…well, “Wisconsin,” and both Connecticut and West Virginia were befuddled by “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” a make believe word made popular in the 1965 Disney Film “Mary Poppins.”
